Biometric access control and time attendance
Control who enters which door and when, and record staff attendance without paper registers. APOPS Assurance installs fingerprint, face recognition and card readers, electric locks and turnstile controllers, and connects them to attendance reports that HR and payroll can use.
What we set up
- Fingerprint, face recognition and RFID card readers for doors and gates
- Electric strikes and magnetic locks, exit buttons, door sensors and emergency release
- Time and attendance terminals with daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Access levels by department, shift and time of day
- Integration with CCTV so every door event can be checked against footage
- Visitor management for receptions and gated estates
Biometric data and the law
Fingerprints and face templates are sensitive personal data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. We configure systems to store templates securely and to limit who can view or export records. We help you prepare the notices and the data protection impact assessment (DPIA) your organisation may need.

Frequently asked questions
Fingerprint or face recognition: which is better?
Face recognition is touch-free and works with gloves or dirty hands, so it suits factories and busy entrances. Fingerprint readers are reliable and cost less. Many sites use a mix: face at main entrances and fingerprint on internal doors.
Can the system produce payroll-ready attendance reports?
Yes. Attendance terminals export clock-in and clock-out reports by employee and date, which HR can use for payroll and overtime.
What happens if the power goes off?
Locks can be set to fail-safe (they open) or fail-secure (they stay locked), depending on the door and fire-safety rules. We add battery backup so the system keeps working through power cuts.
