Solar CCTV cameras for places without power or internet
A solar CCTV camera has its own solar panel, battery and 4G connection. You can mount it on a pole, wall or roof anywhere there is mobile coverage and watch it from your phone, with no cables to the house and no electricity bills. APOPS Assurance supplies and installs solar PTZ and fixed solar cameras across Kenya.
Where solar CCTV works best
- Farm gates, boreholes, greenhouses and livestock pens
- Construction sites and building materials yards
- Plots, estates and perimeters far from the main building
- Petrol stations, cell sites, stores and depots in remote areas
- Anywhere power is unreliable or digging cable trenches is not practical
What to look for in a solar camera
- Panel and battery sized for cloudy days, so it keeps recording through the night
- Real 4G (not only Wi-Fi), with a Safaricom or Airtel data SIM
- Colour night vision or infrared, and motion alerts to your phone
- Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) or dual/4-lens models that cover a wide area with one pole
- Weatherproof housing and secure, anti-theft mounting
Installation and support
We check signal strength and sun exposure on site, mount the pole and camera securely, set up the SIM and the phone app, and show you how to review recordings. We also advise on data bundles and handle maintenance and battery checks.

Frequently asked questions
Does a solar CCTV camera work at night?
Yes. The panel charges the battery during the day and the battery powers the camera at night. Models with infrared or colour night vision record clearly in the dark.
Do solar cameras need Wi-Fi?
No. 4G solar cameras use a mobile data SIM, so they work wherever there is Safaricom or Airtel coverage. Wi-Fi models are available for sites with a router nearby.
How much data does a solar 4G camera use?
Mostly when you watch it live or when it uploads motion clips. Recording to the camera's memory card uses no data. We help you choose a bundle that fits how you use it.
Can solar cameras be stolen?
We mount them high on poles or walls with anti-theft brackets. Many models alert you and record when someone tampers with them.
